Is your child up at 9pm arguing about tram networks with the entire staff of the FT and some tedious Americans who are not familiar with the concept of a joke? This report make shock you.

Happy birthday to the Seitenkanal, which opened today 50 years ago. It meant shipping could bypass East German territory to get from the Hamburg area on the Elbe river to Wolfsburg & the Mittellandkanal.

Here's an unusual throw-back I found from 6 years ago. I was experimenting with some transfer techniques, and found myself in possession of a solid chunk of SF6. I filmed it subliming. A slightly environmentally irresponsible thing to have, though I will have made up for it by the end of my career.
