It also shows that, when nitazenes reach American users, they are almost always mixed with several other drugs, including methamphetamines, cocaine and, most notably, fentanyl.
This is a serious problem for Putin. He can only stay in power if the people around him think he's strong and Moscow getting droned by Ukraine sends the opposite signal: We started a war we can't win and now not even our capital city is safe anymore
The investigation found that, despite efforts to curb their spread across the country, nitazenes are proliferating online. Court documents show that buyers can easily find nitazene suppliers on dark web marketplaces, chemical supplier websites, and even on social media platforms.

Bellingcat combed through dozens of criminal court proceedings, filed national, state, and county-level Freedom of Information requests, and obtained scores of medical examiner reports of cases like Ashley’s to shed more light on the nitazene market in the US.
In her mid-20s, Ashley Delgado suffered a leg injury and was prescribed OxyContin. The painkiller marked the beginning of a yearslong descent through addiction. She died at 29. Toxicology tests would later show a mix of substances in Ashley’s system, including nitazenes.
A drug up to 40 times more potent than fentanyl and 500 times stronger than heroin is increasingly being detected in the US. Bellingcat produced the most detailed account yet of how nitazenes are infiltrating US borders and destroying lives. www.bellingcat.com/news/2026/06...
