I am so honored to announce that I have received the William Southam Journalism Fellowship @masseycollege.bsky.social. I can’t wait to spend the year getting to know the fellows in my cohort, building connections with academics and taking courses at the University of Toronto.
This investigation looked into an incident where one night while a group of Muslim men were praying. A group of prison officials entered the room and began to pepper spray them and beat them. I investigated what took place that night as well as a pattern of racism towards Muslims in this prison.
Khawla somehow manages to _understate_ the amount of time and effort she put into this piece. Please give it a read!
