Like he will chug tomato soup, that’ll be a meal. He’ll salute Captain America, who hates the shit out of him. That’s how he operates, and he’s not being overly sarcastic, that’s how he understands the world.
So having him say “hey homies” before firing at a group is out of place.
Like if you need someone to get an accurate body positioning for firing a higher caliber auto rifle? gerads is your guy.
Sorry for the rant, it’s an odd comic that I’m kinda fascinated by because it looks good but is just remarkably odd
But the weakness in the book, if I’m gonna do some critical thought on it, aside from everything else, is allowing Frank to be glib. He’s not a talker. He hasn’t been. Even with Fraction, where he was probably the funniest he was allowed to be, the bit with him is that he’s too focused to care.
Even the costume of Frank wearing the blackwater combat khakis and a plate carrier with operator gloves is an odd choice
And to be fair, Gerads has a lot of strengths, and drawing this stuff in his style is his jam, and you can tell it is.
Reading the edmunson/gerads punisher run and it’s bizarre when two pro-military people run a character that’s based around almost the antithesis of that
But really it is just more of a black ops book than anything else, at least the first arc, with Frank getting hooked up with current army hardware
Like this is kinda where this book is at, and it’s not BAD per se, but you see what I mean
