An alternative paper, with a ‘narrower’ remit (and a more credible set of data points that actually support the conclusions) would be the more recent: www.nature.com/articles/s44...
Thanks for helping get the word out! 💯% agree there should be more focus on the global biodiversity crisis BUT #IPBES12 in Manchester is getting some attention: since Sunday: 85 articles in 9 languages in 23 coutries...& that's before the launch on 9 Feb of the major new #BizBiodiversity Report!
In this preprint (link in the comments), we review emerging applications of LLMs in ecology and conservation science and discuss limitations, risks, and future directions. As LLMs become increasingly integrated into scientific workflows, we hope this work will be useful to ecologists and others.

We are recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to join a funded project evaluating the effectiveness of protected areas across Southeast Asia. Please feel free to share this opportunity with anyone who might be interested.
LLMs are already changing how academic research is conducted. In our new article, we review emerging applications of LLMs in ecology and conservation, analyze key risks and possible solutions, and discuss how these tools can be used effectively and responsibly. doi.org/10.1111/cobi...
