My take is that the intellectual hygiene in some areas is terrible, and there is very limited interest in any self-correction.

rather than publicly confronting the clear evidence of your misrepresenting your sources, you turn to (perhaps correct) personal criticism of Magness.
This is the behavior of (bad) politician, not a scholar.
