Four from Open Streets Lyndale.
Minneapolis, Minnesota
Just home from a 27 mile bike ride, some of it on paths I didn't know. I kinda love being lost on a bike. Also, Minneapolis biking infrastructure has gotten _so good_. Gods, what a lovely day.
Some highlights from the Mia's exhibit of inter-war work from the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin.
"Something remarkable happened in April. For the first time in history, wind and solar generated more electricity than gas across the entire planet. Not in a country. Not in a region. Globally."
Tons of great news here from Danny Kennedy (via @billmckibben.bsky.social's newsletter, which rules).
you can see the new franklin ave street design with a dedicated bike path coming together east of 35, to match and link up to what exists currently on franklin west of lyndale ave. another piece of great bike infrastructure and safer streets coming to minneapolis!
We spent the winter defending our way of life and in a single June weekend — with pencil sharpening, Grand Old Day, Tour de Luce, Open Streets, Twins, Lynx, Saints, etc — we are living it.
Genuine credit where it's due—this is a great start!
Also:
- Seeing a clear emphasis on streamlining public services (which is a theme of these plans so far and something the Gov controls)
- Honestly heartening that Amy is putting out pretty detailed plans rather than coasting as a heavy favorite
Caution Caution the Minneapolis Bike Lobby is out in force today. Do not approach, they will tell you how nice it is to bike in Minneapolis. Beware, you have been forewarned.
