You can go a little loopy if you begin thinking of yourself as a Political Operative simply because you post about politics. This is why it's so important to drop an occasional grounding post like "The brain is the ass of the head" to remind yourself that you are just some guy
"wow this fandom has a real problem with nazis" yeah bad news about the whole earth "so what's up with all the sexism in this fandom" what's up with all the sexism in general "i've experienced a lot of ableism in this community" you know where else you can experience ableism? just about everywhere
people will join any community and forget that every community is just a subset of "humans" rather than an exception to "humans" and then get mad when the community exhibits the same issues and problems as "humans"
oh and btw I'm not saying "shut up about problems in a community" that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that any group, regardless of size, will inherit the problems of the superset (i.e. society, culture, human beings, etc) and that you need to anticipate them and be able to act accordingly!
it's unfortunately not possible to vet the problems out of a community. any group that restricts membership based on Preventing All Problems is a group that will continually add more vetting rules and continually shed members. you need to have contingencies for Addressing problems, not Avoiding them
