many people around the world need to relocate due to climate change.
Alaska can show us how to do a good job of a difficult process.
these nice kipnuk people will not be the last to face tough decisions.

any climate change deniers and pro-development candidates are not going to help our tribes, villages, and communities that are facing having to relocate because their homes are no longer safe and inhabitable
still thinking about that spruce tip bearnaise 🤤
last night felt like cooking for VIPs and edith said “that’s because we are” …the vibes we’re so great—it was a kitchen that was cooking for it’s community and you tasted it in every bite

TIL quinhagak’s mascot is the seahawks
and halong evacuees formed teams to represent their villages while based in other communities: kwig is in bethel and kipnuk in anchorage
one thing about me is that i love my home. i can’t imagine having to evacuate one day and never knowing if i could come back
but that’s a real crisis for kipnuk, and many other alaska tribes
so it’s very important that we support and vote for leaders who recognize and support this issue in alaska
felt like christmas in mount edgecumbe’s culture room today!
gunalchéesh to everyone who donated to the MEHS culture room through the student arts project—thanks to your kindness the students have what they need to make regalia, qaspeqs, and good food 💛

mehs yupik dance group with their 5 new nasqurrun (headdresses), made by golga oscar, during their halftime performance last night 🏀
actually it was free
the wild salmon in mehs’ freezer was donated by shee atika (sitka native corp) and distributed by sitka conservation’s fish to schools program
the high school got pallets of sockeye and coho filets… some of which are being used today for a sushi making class for students 🍣
