For now, the VMU only shows a joker icon (and well, lets you save settings and run progression, very much like the original game, as its only an automatic save).
As a late stage improvement, I'd love to maximize the use of the VMU screen though. Score, Run info, animations... Would be cool!
But I'm quite positive that we can get a solid Dreamcast version of Balatro.
What would Balatro look like if it got a specific release for the Dreamcast as a major game ?
To me :
- Real arcade vibe
- Sega related content and fan service
- Online (!)
That's the "dream"(cast) vision

YES
What's next? Well, quite a lot. A lot of bug fixes, finishing to implement all boss blinds, challenges, special card visual effects... and as you can see, though it's already animated, we're not quite at the original juice level of Balatro.
So, there's still work to do to complete the port!

Two cult indie hits are confirmed to be coming soon to Sega Dreamcast thanks to the hard work of homebrew devs: The poker-themed roguelike Balatro, and the stylish rhythm romp Friday Night Funkin'! 🃏🎤
