It's be an honour to write this TALE-review with my long-time friend and colleague Jan Grau 👨‍🔬📗🧑‍💻. It's about both worlds: virulence, genomics 🌾🧫🧪 & genome editing, SynBio 🧬✂️. All figures done by ourselves! Hope you like it. Please spread the news! 📰🥳 doi.org/10.1146/annu...

Calling all researchers using Anthropic's AI model Claude: how are you using the new Claude Fable 5 model in your research? We want to hear about the most impressive things it's built for your research projects or left you asking what the fuss is all about. Let us know.

TALEs (transcription activator-like effectors) are an excellent example of how studying pathogen–host interactions can lead to significant biotechnology inventions. TALEs are bacterial effectors that ...

You saw them first on @bioRxiv. Now they’re out in print—back-to-back. Meet AVRcap1b: the two-faced immunosuppressor from the potato blight pathogen Phytophthora infestans. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Völlig daneben, was Demeter und Co. da machen. Aus erster Hand weiß ich, wie sich Europaabgeordnete von der Flut an Anti-Gentechnik-Spam drangsaliert fühlen. Was man damit erreicht?
Two faces calls for two papers! Check out our companion paper showing how the same AVRcap1b stalls stepwise assembly of the tomato NRC3 resistosome mid-build! Check out the paper and the original thread: bsky.app/profile/jmad... www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
As seen on @biorxivpreprint.bsky.social: our story on how the dreaded late blight pathogen hijacks a helper NLR pathway is now out in its final form! 🎉 Meet AVRcap1b: the two-faced effector 🧵👇 www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

‼️Job alert📢🚨 We are recruiting a Junior Group Leader (f) in Protein Science at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, jointly hosted by the Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology and our Collaborative Research Centre CRC 1664 "Plant Proteoform Diversity – SNP2Prot."
So proud to see this story finally out!🎉 We added new data since our previous preprint—transgenic barley plants with an engineered immune receptor that fights off two fungal pathogens at once. Short 🧵 and link to the original preprint thread on X👇 www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
