Update on this by the way: I am now over 22,000 words into my novel draft and that means I have officially hit the “in too deep and have to commit to finishing it” level. Thanks elf

I watched a video by Zach Cregger referring to making a shitty first draft of a script as "elfing" (pretending you paid a shitty elf to make the draft and excusing all mistakes as that shitty elf doing a bad job) and unfortunately this advice was tailor-made to work on me (involves elves)
