Met Office now forecasting a maximum temperature of 40°C this week.
Just four years after 40°C was first recorded in Britain, which was believed to be a 1 in 100 year to 1 in 300 year event at the time.

The Met Office is forecasting 39°C for London on Wednesday. It's very possible somewhere will see 40°C, equalling the national record max temperature set just four years ago.
It's about time we began taking climate change seriously.
