We really need to get rid of journals as gatekeepers.
Peer review by institutions; open access publishing to a government website; journals become an aftermarket consumer review magazine, curated by an editor to bring papers an audience.
APA no longer shows me the actual paper, authors, abstract etc when I click on a paper in a search engine. Everything gated now, including basic paper info.
