I'm ttired and misplaced with yet another handyman clomping around while I'm back on the freaking air mattress in the dining room in the vain hope that the bedroom will be restored to it's previous scarcely functional state, so it's language time.

Use of the word "liminal" has risen sharply, particularly in long-form journalism and public radio. It describes an “in-between” state, and is sometimes used for an aesthetic of deserted corridors, empty rooms, and unused auditoriums.
