It is urgent that Europe finds a foreign policy of its own to avoid being dragged into Trump's wars. Europan military involvement in the the Middle East would be a disaster (once again).
I hope this paper is of interest to people curious about the particularities of the Spanish case and to interest groups and gender and politics literature! On positionality as a male researcher on this topic, I made an effort to represent my interviewees’ perspectives faithfully and respectfully.
Is the moment for European civil society to stand up for peace. European militar action againt Iran is completely unjustificable.
Two broader contributions:
1) Citizen groups can also use insider tactics of influence, similar to what professional lobbies do.
2) Having women in parliament does not only matter because they act differently, but also because they constitute entry points for female activists.
The 2019 reform makes Spain an unlikely pioneer in gender equality in care responsibilities and labor market opportunities by setting an equal and non-transferable parental leave. The study traces how a feminist group called PPiiNA achieved this through alliances with female parliamentarians.
A libertarian–authoritarian cleavage in social protection politics is a very original theoretical contribution to me!!
Amazing how grading take-home exams has changed with AI. For me now:
- Amazing English but superficial and disconnected from class: bad grade.
- Regular or even bad writing, but applies class concepts correctly and reasons in depth: good grade.
