These land sale events fuel fear and division in our city, and ethnic cleansing abroad. The right to protest is sacrosanct. AND violence, antisemitism, anti-Palestinian racism, and Islamophobia are never acceptable. 2/
It’s disturbing to know these land sale events are happening in NYC; at least one of the cities advertised on the events site as a place where people can buy land is an illegal West Bank settlement. 1/
Today, I’m proud to stand alongside @mayor.nyc.gov and Deputy Mayor Leila Borzog in support of transforming housing in our city by investing billions to build 200,000 deeply affordable homes, including right here in Astoria.
On that day I said that there was so much more that needs to be done. We needed improvements to our city’s zoning and development laws and strategies. We needed more tools.
Four years ago, I stood here to announce my support for building in Hallets Point hundreds of units of affordable and mixed income housing to tackle the housing and affordability crisis in our city.
