Trump's war has wiped out an entire year and a half of wage growth
Congress hasn't raised the federal minimum wage since 2009, but 30 states have raised their own.
New work from @arindube.bsky.social finds these state increases raised pay in restaurants and other low-wage sectors, with no detectable effect on jobs
Excited to announce that I'll be doing an Austria/UK trip in October, presenting ideas based on my book (and other research). Vienna, Oxford, likely also London (Oct 19-23). More to come soon!

It was such a treat to have prof @arindube.bsky.social visit UCO to discuss his book and prior work on the minimum wage.

I could listen to @arindube.bsky.social talk about wages for hours, and I have! Listen to the pod and go buy his book! Shows a clear path to getting workers raises they deserve
(Plus that pod is great overall for policy discourse)

Great time talking about The Wage Standard in OKC yesterday, thank you @troach.bsky.social!
The headline inflation reading is brutal, indicating how American paychecks are getting eroded by the Iran war.
At the same time, the relatively modest core inflation highlights that this energy price hike hasn't yet threatened general price stability.
The Iran War is lowering real wages: the year-over-year 4.3% inflation outpaced the 3.4% wage growth, leaving American workers worse off.
