What a pleasure to collaborate with Laura #Schaedel and her team at @uni-saarland.de to study #microtubule damage and repair under mechanical load.
Deadline approaching in two weeks. Don’t miss this opportunity at @bcube-tud.bsky.social 🚀🚀🚀
Great honor that our recent work on Spastin recognizing microtubule lattice defects was picked for the Biomedical Picture of the Day.

Thank you all for coming to @bcube-tud.bsky.social and #Dresden last week. You all made Engineering Life 2025 #25EngLife a most interesting and fun event. #Mechanical #forces in Biology rule!!!
Just started our @bcube-tud.bsky.social - organized Engineering Life 2025 #25EngLife conference in #Dresden! Excited to have everybody around!
Come and join us at B CUBE (TU Dresden) as group leader - great environment, lots of Molecular Bioengineering from biochemistry to biophysics around and looking forward to support you in setting up your own research team. Details 👇 datashare.tu-dresden.de/s/XtAFtSy25H.... Deadline 21 May 2026.
Few spots left on our @bcube-tud.bsky.social organised hashtag #Symposium:
Engineering Life 2025: Origin and Function of Mechanical Forces in Biology ⚙️🧬
📆 September 1-3, 2025
📍 Steigenberger Hotel de Saxe, Dresden
Register now (Deadline 31 July 2025): engineering-life-dresden.de
🥳 Excited to share our #diatom work out in @pnas.org. In a great collaboration with @nic-poulsen.bsky.social and @ulrichschwarz.bsky.social we show that diatoms modulate the curvature of their paths by dynamic switching of their cell–substrate contact sites.
doi.org/10.1073/pnas.2506122123
How can #diatoms move and turn so fast in their glass-like shells?
A team at B CUBE led by Dr. Poulsen @nic-poulsen.bsky.social and Prof. Diez @stefandiezlab.bsky.social has cracked the code: they steer by shifting the contact point with the surface ⚙️
