Ok, I just finished reading, and I have a few thoughts: 1. This rules. 2. Bilge should fill in the gaps in Spielberg's filmography, then make a whole damn book. 3. It really is crazy how much Spielberg operates on the harmony of pure craft/instinct to evoke what is in his heart.
If you're ever friendly with a bartender on a slow day, I highly recommend asking them what people do to get 86'd. You'll hear some *insane* stories.
People are going to flip out when they see this.
There is one actor in Disclosure Day with a small part who I don't think I have ever seen in anything else, and who has a crucial role late in the film. What she does in just a few minutes is frankly incredible, and I hope this starts a great career for her. I wish I had caught her name.
The Social Reckoning shows incredible restraint insofar that no one character screams about their CV in order to justify themselves. When I finally see it, I look forward to learning everyone's GPA. Related: I also received the below notification last night. Impeccable timing.

Another World is the worst film I have seen all year, a lore-heavy parable about the afterlife so convoluted that its depiction of suffering - including scenes of self-harm and cannibalism - barely register as anything but tedious. I hated it. My @spectrumculture.bsky.social review.
This includes a scene that juxtaposes gruesome child mutilation with a stylized, gravity-defying anime action. Put another way, it's literally this (derogatory).

Criticism can be a public service, and here I broke down DC/DOX into five subsections: -pop culture ephemera -nature docs -longitudinal studies -true crime -post-10/7 Palestine docs There are good choices in each, so if you're in DC this weekend, you should check out some nonfiction cinema!
10 favorite Spielbergs why not 1. Munich 2. Raiders 3. Jaws 4. Saving Private Ryan 5. Minority Report 6. Close Encounters 7. Catch Me If You Can 8. Bridge of Spies 9. Disclosure Day (why not x2) 10. Lincoln
Clear my schedule, @bilgeebiri.bsky.social just published a long-ass (16,000 words(!) Spielberg oral history.

Relentlessly grim and convoluted, the animated film Another World never justifies the misery it inflicts on its thin characters.
