From our work in schools we get this. @youthenroute.bsky.social sees the solution in bikes and having kids go places by bikes.

Just met guy in Hope with a sign on his bike saying "83 years old and cycling across Canada. Ask me why." So I asked him why and he said "No reason." 😁 Lovely.
My favourite dumb zone is on 16th/TCH. It's 50 forever then 60 as you pass into the university area and the 70 at the foothills hospital intersection. Like, why are places where people are in high stress scenarios who may react poorly at high speeds???
I’d add that the the overwhelming surge in cars and communities designed for cars has contributed to the problem. It is impossible to play pickup hockey on most suburban streets these days and getting anywhere on your bike as a kid is a nightmare.
This will go down as one of the most shameful votes from ABC during their term.
All of the councilors in favour of Peter Meiszner's amendment will have blood on their hands.
