We reveal widespread occurrence of seasonal reproductive plasticity, including reproductive diapause, in butterflies in a seasonal rainforest in the Amazon. This highlights that not only in temperate but also tropical habitats, seasonality is an important driver of plastic life history strategies.
Our new paper is out now in Ecology Letters, completely open access! doi.org/10.1111/ele.... Many thanks go out to all of our co-authors, especially those who helped with the fieldwork in Peru - it wouldn't have been possible without you @climate-adaptation.bsky.social @wileyecology.bsky.social

🧬🦋 New preprint out! 🦋🧬 What mechanisms underlie large-scale chromosomal rearrangements? Why do rearrangement rates vary so massively across taxa? We explored these questions in Erebia butterflies, a genus with extraordinary chromosome number diversity, from 7 to 52! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Huge congrats to Mar, who led this study published in @ecography.bsky.social! doi.org/10.1002/ecog... Nymphalidae butterfly diversity in the Atlantic Forest was shaped by repeated dispersal, over millions of years, from Amazonia and the Andes, rather than by high in situ diversification
Day 3 of the @projectpsyche.bsky.social spring meeting at @liverpooluni.bsky.social. Summary sessions brought together the ideas we’ve developed so far, followed by a visit to the entomological collection 🧬🦋 #10kLepGenomes #Lepidoptera #Genomics

Brooke Zanco and co-authors found flies fed low cholesterol diets have greater levels of gut permeability and epithelial cell disorganisation than those fed high cholesterol diets. Lifespan was maximised on a high cholesterol diet www.nature.com/articles/s41...
