I’m so grateful to @ucdavisvetmed.bsky.social for their kindness, patience, and knowledge! Roxie is here for her dermatology check up and she’s doing great! 😍❤️
Paper accepted! 🤩 my favorite email! Looking forward to carefully reading the proofs (but knowing there will always be that one typo) so I can share the finalized paper with the community! Thank you MBoC reviewers and monitoring editor!
Preliminary schedule is up for the Santa Cruz Dev Biol meeting! Check it out, and if you still want to register, we'll think about letting you! 😉😜

This is actually really scary to read. No guarantees that grants will be awarded or won’t be cancelled. Projects must align with Presidential goals. All grants must include text about “gold standard” science. All grants will be approved by political appointees without consideration of reviews.
I’m so looking forward to visiting Ottawa Hospital Research Institute on Monday to talk about the work in our lab! An extra bonus? I get to see the very first undergrad who joined my lab in 2016 because he is getting his PhD there! 🤩
My students are so sweet! I’ve been using this printed paper sign that’s ripped in two places when I have zoom meetings for 5 years and my students were so sweet and got me a much classier version for my door for my birthday! 😂
I had a lovely walking tour of Ottawa today, and I’m excited to meet folks at OHRI and give a talk on the work in our lab tomorrow! 🤩
Congratulations to all of my amazing students who were honored at the @ucdavis.bsky.social College of Biological Sciences award ceremony! Two of our 🤩 undergrads, Veda and Catherine, were awarded CBS Dean’s Circle summer research fellowships and Tess Leathers received a graduate mentoring award! 💫🏆
First time having a Caesar! It’s been a really fun visit to Ottawa and huge thanks to the folks here for making this visit awesome. I was able to experience so much in just two days and talk about science! Coffee at Little Victories, the Obama cookie store, ate a beaver tail, and at Chez Lucien. 🤩
Congratulations to Tess Leathers, our senior PhD candidate and superstar, on her successful presentations at the NIH OSNAP conference! Although delayed for a year due to the shutdown, Tess continued to work on her project and she was able to present work that will soon be submitted for publication!
