The craziest thing that happened at my last job for example was that not 6 months in I was invited to a secret meeting where my team decided to shit on an executive together and I had no context. I barely spoke to this person. At the end they all shared why they love each other and I couldn't.

It does something to the heart to keep hoping for some comfort or kindness and just get run over in these corporate spaces when people see the opportunity to get more. Greed and corruption is something wild to witness first-hand when you have no power to protect yourself or anyone around you.
I've come to learn over the years that it is an unfortunate fact that not everyone has your best interest at heart and not everyone in your industry wants to be a mentor or wants to see you grow and succeed.
This never made sense to me. But there are so many people who will cut throats if asked.
I feel blessed to be so far removed from these environments that really turned me inside out and tried to make me just another cruel stupid bastard. My body violently rejected things and I never took the time to notice just how much I didnt want to fit into the cult or wear the mask.
You just continue to survive insanity sometimes. And you need to build in the internal resistance to know it has nothing to do with your quality of work or anything you produce- its the culture you refuse to play in most of the time.
