We can also control the morphology of each pattern, i.e., whether they exhibit dots or stripes, and the associated length scales. Our constructive framework provides a way to compile an endless variety of patterns!
Even though these mixtures are driven out of equilibrium, we identify a class of systems that can be mapped to an equilibrium analog, which allows us to analyze them in detail. In particular, we can use Gibbs phase rule to identify how many fundamental patterns can coexist.
In the end, patterns such as the one in the first post, comprise fundamental regions akin to phases, which coarsen over time in an intricate manner. Thanks to Chengjie, Yicheng, and Guido for the wonderful work!
