Yesterday, at London Stock Exchange, the Business and Trade Committee launched our report on transforming access to finance for British business.
The argument is simple. Britain is not short of money. We are short of the systems to put it to work.
£3 trillion sits in our pension funds. £264 billion in undeployed capital. Yet 380,000 firms still can't get the finance they need to grow. We've exported our savings, sold our scale-ups, and watched other countries reap the rewards.
If we want the highest growth in the G7, we need the best system in the G7 for turning savings into investment & ideas into world-leading companies.
