In his first interview since being kicked out of the US, FIFA referee Omar Artan tellsβs the NYTβs Matt Bigg that the biggest dream of his professional life has been shattered. The World Cup ref was questioned for 11 hours, held in a cell and then dumped on a plane.

Strike averted! A tentative agreement has been reached with SoFi workers.
"Notably, it includes an explicit right to strike if ICE or Border Patrol activity at the worksite threatens worker safety β a provision legal experts say is unprecedented in modern American labor history"
Very glad to see everyone sharing this big labor story today.

Here at the Coliseum on a very sunny morning for a preview of LAβs World Cup fan festival which opens tomorrow and runs June 11 through 14
Looks like the U.S. is *definitely* going to win its home opener on Friday in LA then because Trump just confirmed he's not going to come to SoFi for the game
At first I thought I was lucky enough to ride the famous Epstein + Trump Lime bike twice but upon further examination there are at least two customized vehicles in the fleet
SoFi workers who could walk off the job at any moment are making an announcement at the stadium on Tuesday.
Although a strike was authorized last week, negotiations continued through today
Here's more of what SoFi's workers won, including wage increases with premiums for major events like the World Cup and Super Bowl, coming in 2027.
Note: this contract ends May 1, 2028, "aligning with over 100 other stadium, hotel, and airport concessions contracts that expire before the Olympics"

βWeβre demanding a new deal for the Olympics that includes family-sustaining jobs and affordable housing for workers"

Big news this week: workers at LA's World Cup venue vote overwhelmingly to authorize a strike with days to go until the U.S. home opener.
Plus: the IOC comes to town, the FBI confirms those "military exercises" were indeed for the World Cup, and so much more to read in this week's Hot Links π₯

"Donald Trump absolutely ruined the Knicks' moment last night," says @edgeofsports.bsky.social. "I believe he is the reason why they lost."
