🏛️ Did you know that in 1993, The Street Trust (when it was still the BTA) filed a lawsuit against the City of Portland? The suit led to an decision upholding the bike bill & establishing that local/state officials could be sued if they failed to provide bike/ped access & lanes on new & rebuilt roads
Our weekend plans? WALK AND ROLL FAIR for @ncsd.bsky.social... Most of The Street Trust team will be at Clackamas Community College: Harmony Campus this Saturday giving out kids' helmets, running a bike rodeo, & more.
It doesn't get much better than a Walk and Roll event on a beautiful Oregon day! Check out our video to learn more about how these events help keep kids safe on bikes and scooters, while still encouraging them to be active, healthy, and independent.
Photos are from last weekend's fair for North Clackamas schools where we gave out free helmets and fittings, ran a bike and scooter rodeo, and had an amazing time seeing kids build their skills!
🥳 HAPPY 55TH BDAY, BIKE BILL! We made it out to Salem to celebrate the anniversary of the passage of the nation's first law requiring the state to accommodate bicycling & walking on all new road projects & requiring agencies to spend at least 1 percent of the state highway fund to reach that goal.
🌈 PRIDE RIDE for for WTFNB+ and Allies with WeBike! Sign up for this FREE friendly, stay-together ride on Sunday, June 7 at TheStreetTrust.org/webike-pride! We'll visit queer-friendly businesses and community centers in NE PDX, ending with a picnic at Irving Park!
The bill helped spur the construction of bicycle and pedestrian paths, sidewalks, & bicycle lanes throughout Oregon. 🚴🏽‍♀️ We heard from legendary advocate, Rep. Earl Blumenauer & shared info about our bicycling clinics, Oregon Friendly Driver, and our plans for next year's legislative session.
Other partners, @trekbikes.bsky.social & the Eco-School Network, will be helping with bike safety checks & repairs. Big thanks to Metro for their support making these events a reality & getting more kids biking, walking, & rolling! Saturday, 5/30, 9:30-12, at 7738 SE Harmony Rd, Milwaukie, OR
We had a blast at yesterday's WeBike Pride Ride and were excited to have @koin6.bsky.social join us to cover it! Read more & learn how we're working to close the gender gap in bicycling by helping more trans people & women find community in active transportation: www.koin.com/news/portlan...
