Hagerty says the council's bills (from Ward 2 CM Brooke Pinto and @robertwhitedc.bsky.social) "mandate the disclosure of information, resulting in the doxxing of federal officers enforcing the law in the District."
EVEN BIGGER MONEY: The union-affiliated group Safe and Affordable D.C. took in $1.3 million from March to June, and has spent pretty much all of that on ads and mailers backing @janeese4dc.bsky.social. The local Sierra Club PAC also raised and spent $200k; they're backing Lewis George.
On the other side, @kenyanmcduffie.bsky.social pulled in more over the last month; around $86,000. But he had fewer D.C. contributors: 555. Over the campaign he has raised $717k, with matching funds he 's up to $3.1 million. He's got $352k until Election Day.
NEWS: Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tennessee) is moving to repeal two bills passed by the D.C. Council that require more transparency from federal agents working with MPD. One allows for the release of body-camera footage from MPD when an agent shoots, another collects names of agents at arrest scenes.
LAST CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORTS: @janeese4dc.bsky.social reports having raised $70k over the last month (she got 1,100 contributions from D.C. residents), bringing her campaign total to almost $700,000. With matching funds her campaign total is $3.3 million; she has $284k left in the bank.
Taken to the extreme, though, this could mean that federal agents in D.C. shouldn't even have to wear name tags, or disclose their agency, something that local police officers across the country almost always do. (Yes, ICE officers in D.C. have been known to cover their faces.)
It took a while, but I finally got the March 31 NPS memo justifying the attempted removal of the 15th Street bike lane between Constitution Avenue and the Tidal Basin.
In short: Concerns over traffic for America 250 events, it would "improve the visual quality" of the street.
I asked @mayorbowser.dc.gov about the D.C. Council's revised budget. She's not impressed:
"All I've heard in the last several months is, 'We're too inefficient, we can spend less money!' I'm looking at all these reports and I don't see anyone spending less money. It's all more money."
BIG MONEY: [email protected] independent expenditure group People for a United D.C. has raised $827k and spent $813k on [email protected] mailers and ads.
Most of its funding ($650k) comes from a dark money group. $100k from realtors group. Also: Nats owner, developers.
