At a stationery store, a tourist was asking for something that sounded like “gosh,” and the clerk seemed confused. So I said, “Maybe they mean gouache?” That seemed to help, but later I learned Japanese “gasshu” and overseas gouache aren’t exactly the same thing… I’ll be more careful next time.
