Dad, pedestrian, bike user, transit explorer and occasional car driver experiencing the mobility infrastructures of Seattle. *Expert in complaining*

Bike lanes have a bad habit of disappearing exactly when they’re most needed: at busy intersections. To make this worse, many drivers just ignore them altogether.
More sad news. With two cyclists killed by trucks within two weeks on Seattle streets, this should not be business as usual. Seattle needs to scale up its Vision Zero program to keep every road user safe
When you start to notice these things, I’m honestly surprised to see the number of places where concrete barriers get moved
This is the β€œbefore”
This is infuriating. When will delivery drivers be held accountable to basic traffic laws to ensure cyclist safety?
More info on www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news... It seems to be due to a close pass from the truck, but the article phrased it as nothing could have been done and doesn’t even mention the law requires to leave at least 3 feet when passing a cyclist (or move to the next lane for multi-lane roads)
View from the other side. The driver saves a couple of seconds instead of parking in that parking lane. This is Green Lake Way N *protected* bike lane (near N 53rd st). Cyclists have been injured at this intersection in the past.
In Fremont, crews recently installed new bike lane protection along Fremont Ave N. We worked to get this completed before the construction pause for the FIFA World Cup. More than 500,000 bike and scooter riders have crossed the Fremont Bridge so far this year.
