We've had decades of games representing themselves as grander than they actually are to lean into audience expectations for expanding scope.
But old games are great! They always were and still are. There's nothing innately outmoded about a linear game with bounded mechanics.

007 is the game we thought we'd be getting forever after the PS2 and GameCube. I get that gaming is so much bigger than that now, but the hobby is better when we get games like this.
