I finally thought of one; the more streamlined Rom becomes, the more generic and boring he becomes. A big part of the charm of Rom during his Marvel days was that he was kind of dorky-looking - he's like the Volvo of robots. Modern Rom is just kind of bland and boring.

What comic book opinion would have you like this?
Just read Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Beautiful art and a strong story - the last chapter is particularly moving. Ruthye is a wonderful character and I hope they do her justice on the big screen. In particular, I hope they retain her narration and at least some of her olde worlde eloquence.
