At the end of June, we will start compiling your submissions for the first half of #PWC2026 best find competition. Like last year's comp, it will be judged by the public on why that patch find was special to you. All we ask for is a brief write-up, a paragraph or two, and a picture if you have one.

Context is everything in local birding and by far the rarest bird of this week so far is this Canada Goose which appeared briefly on the loch below the house this afternoon. House ✔️ #141 Only the sixth Westray record (my fourth) as it remains rare in the Orkney North Isles. #WestrayBirding #PWC2026
Some excitement at St Fittick's Park this morning. Cuckoos are rare migrants here, normally juveniles in late summer, so an adult in June was unprecedented. Perhaps it was interested in this Reed Warbler, which was my first here for seven years.
