I've seen and admired the previous two Nadav Lapid films and have come *this close* to buying the Blu-rays during Kino Lorber's periodic sales, mainly to learn more about him through the extras on the discs. Alas, I missed YES! when it played theatrically (very briefly, if I recall).
Time for DISCLOSURE DAY. Cinema Arts auditorium 1. If I don’t love the film I’m blaming my not choosing to see it in a PLF theater.
I mean, are we *sure* Spielberg wasn't looped into the chain of letters between Malick and Scorsese?
Working theory: Spielberg was so taken with the concluding image of Scorsese's SILENCE that he decided to build an entire film around it with DISCLOSURE DAY.
Jill Biden debuting one spot ahead of the newest Eric Metaxas book is the rage bait social media was made for.
Remarkable. Can’t wait for the snowflakes on the Right to declare how much they hate it. Bring it on!
There's an interrogation scene of sorts in DISCLOSURE DAY that, when its clear parallel clicked into place, made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Can't remember a comparable moment in any Hollywood blockbuster in many years, maybe ever. A film to be treasured for that sequence alone.
True. I had a great time recently going with friends to the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh - an artist I don't particularly care for, but seeing his art *at scale* (that's important; reproductions in books and brochures don't do justice to many works) made for a treasured experience.
