I was mostly on board with DISCLOSURE DAY – particularly when it was North by Northwest – but the late descent into Alien Autopsy territory is ludicrous. www.irishtimes.com/culture/film...

Have not seen DISCLOSURE DAY. But a bit worried bc even the raves are couched in the florid language of the insistent maître d' talking up the gratin potatoes because he knows the veal ain't up to much.
I fully expect to see a post tomorrow afternoon telling us Ridley Scott has finished shooting TREASURE ISLAND and has just cast Claire Foy in the upcoming BOADICEA.
I highly recommend watching Siskel & Ebert’s best of the year episodes from the 1970s on YouTube. In virtually every one Siskel (and Ebert to a lesser extent) complain that all Hollywood now releases is sequels and kids picks. They both think 1976 was a “bad year”. The year of… 1/2

…Taxi Driver, President’s Men, Network, Killing of a Chinese Bookie, Carrie, Rocky, Outlaw Josey Wales. In the end of decade episode they have little positive to say about what was later declared contender for the best ever in US cinema. Indeed, Ebert says all the best films were from elsewhere. 2/2
