I worked in a mobile game company the last few years & that gave me so many new perspectives of the industry, too. But I had such an awful experience there it made me depressed for a long while. & I don't think I could work full-time in another game company... so I make do with making my own games.
So I just want to do things at my own pace and in my own way.
Already halfway through WWCG's Latinamerican Spanish translation! 🫶
I'm missing Days 5, 6 & the triple Day 7 with all the endings (though certain parts of the endings I've already translated, so it's a bit less).
Wonder if I'll be able to finish it before my birthday on the 28th? I'll do my best!💪
But I also don't think I would make indie gamedev my main source of income. As many others have said, the industry is at an all-time low right now, AI stuff keeps getting WORSE and a lot of people get extremely rude & entitled with gamedevs as a whole.
I myself work in gamedev as a 'sort of' side hustle. I say 'sort of' because right now I don't really earn enough money from it to help me cover expenses. I mostly use the money I earn to keep funding my games and occassionally to buy some games (or comics) for myself.
Over the last decade I've seen many people quit gamedev; which made me both sad & happy. Sad bc I'll miss them. Happy bc I know they do it to pursue something else that makes them happier. It's also undeniable that the industry has suffered a lot in the last few years. Plus the birth of AI slop...
