I think the article makes a very good point about the pandemic. Young people feel cheated. They should. We absolutely didn't prioritize them. Oh, maybe a nano sec of care but that was about it. Of course there's trauma and resentment now. What did we think would happen?

Free 3rd spaces for teens didn't really exist when I was growing up back in the days of yore either. You could hang out at the mall. There was a rolling skating rink. Not free. Ice rinks in the winter though were. We hung out at people's houses. Drove around a lot.
Schools are really the last place AI is needed. School is about learning to think not learning to off source your thinking. The Liberal govt is really wrong in terms of their approach to AI policy, which is absolutely going to filter down from post sec to K12, and it will be a disaster.
It was quite the moral panic in my hometown. One of the parks was so notorious that one section of it was referred to as "the deep end" for years after ward. When I was in hs, my friends and I went there expecting to find something dangerous, but it was the same as the rest of the park. Just a park.
I don't believe real people walk up to him and share personal anecdotes. Everything is Brianne from Chilliwack with them.

We don't prioritize free public 3rd spaces anyway but it's always been particularly an afterthought for teens. Spaces that have existed in the past like malls, for eg, weren't deliberate 3rd spaces after all.
I remember when I was a little kid hearing stories about teens taking over local parks.
