White Rose University Press is the UK's first jointly-run open access non-profit digital university press, from the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York.
White Rose University Press
WRUP extends its sincere thanks to the organisers, speakers, and attendees for such a stimulating and productive event. We left inspired, informed, and excited about the future of open institutional publishing. #OIPA2026 #OpenAccess #UniversityPresses #ScholarlyPublishing #OpenResearch
The collaborative workshop brought attendees together to discuss OIPA's challenges and opportunities, sharing ideas on how the community can continue to grow, innovate, and advocate for open publishing.
One of our biggest takeaways was the strength of the OIPA network itself. Collaboration, shared expertise, and collective advocacy will be essential as the sector navigates an increasingly challenging environment.
We heard excellent case studies and advice on advocacy, collaboration, and demonstrating the value of open access publishing. A timely reminder of the importance of making the case for institution-led publishing models.
Lucy and Kate were delighted to attend the OIPA 2026 Symposium yesterday. An invaluable event with thoughtful discussions, practical insights, and plenty of ideas for the future of open institutional publishing.
Kate & Lucy from White Rose University Press have headed down to Falmer, University of Sussex, ahead of the @oipassoc.bsky.social OIPA Symposium to explore why open institutional publishing is more important than ever and advocacy for university-based publishing. Image provided by rdne on Pexels.
Today is the 156th Anniversary of the passing of Charles Dickens, however the 1st June 2026 celebrated the 6th publishing anniversary of 'Dickens After Dickens'
'Dickens after Dickens' explores how his influence has evolved over the centuries and how creatives have recreated what is deemed 'Dickensian' in films and television. You can read the full Open Access book online via this link: universitypress.whiterose.ac.uk/books/e/10.2...
