Several months in, the devastating repercussions at research organizations from abrupt contract and grant cancellations continue apace. There are fewer public announcements now, but several larger firms have laid off a third or more of their employees and small businesses have been even harder hit.

5/5 Bottom line: extreme heat is undermining teacher productivity and reshaping learning in ways we’ve totally missed. As heat waves become more common, schools with older workforces or weak cooling systems will be especially vulnerable. Climate change is already affecting American teachers.
We found:
🔎 Measures produced different time-use estimates
📊 Classrooms were classified into different profiles
📈 Associations with children’s gains were measure-sensitive
Time use is actionable, but not measurement-neutral. We need stronger measurement foundations to inform policy and practice.
