Female and male winter ant. Male is tiny! I saw them mating but couldn’t get a photo. “Prenolepis imparis is the first ant to hold mating flights every year in temperate North America. Alates wait out the winter and emerge on the first warm spring days.” They have burrows 5-6’ deep. #ants #insects
