Peak El Niño median forecast is now forecast ONI at +3.3°C (RONI +2.7°C) up .2°C from last month so far. If it verifies, it will be by far the strongest El Niño on record. Thanks @hausfath for the great visual.

Can’t say I recall ever seeing this before. More than half of France’s 30+ year-old weather stations set/tied their monthly high-temperature record in May 2026. Some did so as many as 9 times. Unprecedented to witness this level of heat so early in the year.
