At 8 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 6, the Hortmans’ children, Colin and Sophie, joined The Current’s Morning Show to share songs and stories that embody their parents’ spirit and memory.
They like to dance to records together. They loved each other madly. She made brownies and hosted all their friend's kids. They loved music.
I'll never ever forget their children memorializing them on the Current with all their favorite music. A monumental loss of beautiful souls.

My ask of anyone who comes across this is that when you read something about the shooter or the violence that took their lives, make a point to seek out a story about Melissa, Mark and Gilbert.
Make sure that you know more about who they were and how they lived than how they died.
