Very happy to have been part of this MLA Working Group. Lots of hard conversations and co-writing led to this framework about AI and humanities scholarship. My favorite part is the list of scenarios at the end, which we wrote to be realistic and provocative of discussion in your own community.
I am super pleased to have this publication out, which has been the work of a team of 22+ #digitalhumanities scholars throughout the past academic year.

When I encounter folks who fundamentally misunderstand what a dissertation is or what is a PhD, I like to share Matt Might’s Illustrated Guide to a PhD: matt.might.net/articles/phd...
While AI can perhaps aid a human being in reaching or expressing this expertise, it is about the human achievement.
This Framework should particularly useful to folks who may be considering using AI in their research and scholarship, and for those who encounter it in their work.

Working with the MLA AI and Research Working Group was the highlight if this past year for me. I can’t overstate the care, thoughtfulness & commitment each member brought to the process. mlaai.hcommons.org/ai-and-the-h...
I worked on this along with many other folks, and I hope the AI skeptical and curious alike will give it a read. It includes questions to ask yourself as you think about AI's role in your research process, ranging from accidental use to open engagement. We also have scenarios to work through.
A lot of smart people put a lot of hours into this, and it’s worth some of the attention you might otherwise give to shit posting about AI on this app.
I got my first paycheck after getting a new job so i too pass from the night.
