I am grateful for the friendship of Prof Magdalena Stovea (Sec Gen of @IOMP_Official & Prof Slavik Tabakov (past pres of IOMP) who are native of Plovdiv, Bulgaria who took us around old town to show historical parts including Ancient Theatre of Philippopolis!

Walking thr’ historical old town in Plovdiv like Athens or Ankara, people still live in old part.
Was told they are supposed to pay taxes for the base area of the house, so they build 2nd floor extending beyond 1st floor area & hence houses appear so close!

Visited “The Sofia Synagogue” built in 1909, which is the largest synagogue in Southeastern Europe, the third-largest in Europe, and one of two active synagogues remaining in Bulgaria.

Views on a early morning Sunday in Sofia while the city sleeps!
Famous rose festival was a week ago here!

Like Uber there is ‘Taxi Me’ here in Sofia, quite convenient and fast - only take cash (€).

Visit to Rila Monastery was very nice. Most revered place for Bulgarians, the monastery is over 1000 years and has still have monks living here surrounded by mountains & natural habitat!
It was worth the drive from Sofia!

Had the privilege to learn about the “Saints Constantine & Helena Orthodox Church” in old town Plovdiv through Prof Slavik. Impressed to learn that his wife’s family was involved in several iconic paintings in the church.
He also gave his book on symbols!
