Cave Johnson was pretty entertaining, no real notes but he's definitely a product of the tone shift overall.
I think my biggest disappointment was the old Aperture Science Test Chambers, I was really hoping they'd be more difficult than they are after the introduction of the gels but they never quite get out of the tutorial feeling to me and before I knew it I was back upstairs, shame!
I also feel like the comedic elements while fun and definitely get giggles out of me, do kind of intrude on the atmosphere in my mind.
It's really telling that a character I'd like in any other game actively annoyed me here lol, I get the effect with Wheatley probably is-
To make you go "PLEASE shut the fuck up" but I felt it kinda made it hard to get into the run down vibe of the chambers and that is rather unfortunate in my eyes.
So, intentionally annoying but not in the fun way pfft
Not to say I wasn't stumped sometimes but I think figuring out an answer in 2 feels like I figured THE answer rather my own solution to it off, I can't say there was a similar feeling of "I could've solved that differently if I thought about it more-" that I got in P1
I was kinda waiting for all these elements to make that puzzle that really brings everything together and puts my skill to the test but it never quite happens, I mostly ended up overthinking certain rooms cuz I expected more than there was to the solution y'know?
To add onto this-
The final chamber before the escape sequence in the first game is some legitimate "wtf am I supposed to do" kinda stuff the first time and I felt like I was Einstein figuring it out myself
And I don't think a single Portal 2 puzzle ever reaches that high pfft
