Junkers Ju 52/3m was captured by the Australian forces at Ain-El Gazala, Libya, repainted and nicknamed "Libyan Clipper". The aircraft was used by 450 Squadron RAAF to transport mail, food supplies and small items.
After WW2, the French Air Force was keen to acquire modern fighter aircraft as quickly as possible; whilst waiting for French manufacturers to be able to offer a high-performance aircraft, an agreement was reached with the UK to produce Vampir aircraft under licence.
