The soft chiming of bike bells filled the air in Bridgeport on Monday evening as hundreds of cyclists rode along South Halsted Street to honor the life of city worker and cycling advocate Riley O’Neil, who was killed last week while riding his bike in the neighborhood. blockclubchi.co/3S16HWg
Please, join us in community as we celebrate the life of Riley O'Neil and Jam in his honor.

If Riley meant something to you or you want to keep his legacy alive, consider using it too. And let’s start calling these bike racks what they are: a #RileyRack 🚲💙❤️
One more way we're remembering Riley.
The Divvy station at LaSalle & Washington is now the Riley O'Neil Memorial Station at City Hall. The new name is live in the app today, with signage coming soon.
We miss you, buddy 💙🚲

Thank you so much for coming out to our Jam and eie-in last night. It warms our hearts to see our community together.
Please give it up for our BGN marshals, @femnthembikechi.bsky.social, @chicagobikesox.com for keeping us safe and moving.

CDOT [...] said the department was coordinating with Lee’s office “on the early stages of a community planning process focused on developing a network of low-stress bike routes in the area and advancing other traffic safety improvements.”

Our hearts go out to the CDOT complete streets team and all those who knew and loved Riley.
We will honor Riley’s memory by continuing to fight for the safe streets he deserved — and that he spent his time in service to our community trying to win.
We are hosting a vigil and bike jam for Riley. Flyer forthcoming.
It will be on Monday, 6/8 at 7pm. Palmissano Park (Fitness Course; across from McGuane Park's playground)
The street address for the meeting place is (approx.) 860 W. 29th St.
There’s also a group ride departing from Daley Plaza at 6 p.m. 🚲🚲🚲 #BikeChi
Riley was one of the few people you meet in public service that was always positive, always kind, and always believing he could play a role in making something better. When you find a magic Riley rack that is still free Divvy parking, Riley left it there for you. 💙🚲

A cyclist has died around 3200 S Halsted Avenue. We've lost track how many SW side death have happened this year. They happen so frequently. Unacceptable that CDOT acquiesces to drivers and alders. We chose tragedy over safety.

Lake. Big Lake.
A memorial bike ride and vigil was held for Riley O’Neil, a Chicago Department of Transportation worker who dedicated much of his career to bicycle safety and infrastructure in Chicago.
A permit has been issued by the City of Chicago to transform an 1890s masonry three-unit residence a block west of Wrigley Field into a 15-unit building.
CDOT lost the best of our team yesterday. We're heartbroken.
In memory of Riley O'Neil, please refer to these bike racks as "Riley Racks". He led Chicago's bike parking program for several years. Our hearts are broken, but we want to make sure his legacy lives on 💙🚲
Please spread the word
