Great way for chemsky to kick off 2026 as @fabiojulia7.bsky.social and company repurpose the ferrioxalate system as a versatile photoredox catalyst for dehalogenation, hydrocarboxylation, and cross-coupling reactions!

A big 🙏🏼GRACIAS🙏🏼 to #JoseLuisMascareñas from @ciqus.bsky.social - our wonderful president of 58 Bürgenstock conference 🇨🇭🧪⚗️ for the fantastic program & bringing the warm Spanish touch! ❤️❤️What a magic week ✨🪄! Great to meet the Spanish crew 😉❤️ #bc_scs25
Known for over 130 years, the photochemical decomposition of Fe(III) oxalates has become a cornerstone in the field of photochemistry, used on a daily basis to determine quantum yields of photochemical reactions (2/5).
Amazing experience attending to this inspiring meeting. Thanks @swisschemistry.bsky.social and the organizers for the JSP Fellowship
Great work by my amazing team formed by Carlos, Sergio, Nojus, Partha and visiting students Sara and Ken. Thanks to all the funders as well for trusting us with this project! (5/5)

In this work we have repurposed this LMCT reactivity to enable the use of oxalate as 2e-reductants for Fe catalysis under a single photon excitation, enabling access to highly reactive reduced species, otherwise challenging to reach from simple iron salts (3/5).
We are happy to announce the first "Spanish Junior Leaders in Synthesis and Catalysis”, a one-day symposium which will take place in Murcia next October 16th. Info and free registration here: juniorleadersyncat.com
See you in Murcia!
This has enabled the development of a new catalytic system able to mediate a wide range of reductive transformations inaccessible under Fe catalysis to date, including 2 unprecedented transformations: indanone assembly and reductive cross-coupling of e-deficient alkenes (4/5).
After >3 years on the making, we are very excited to introduce Ferrioxalate Photocatalysis in a work published today in
