This is the perfect Kemi Badenoch line: obviously crazy, coarsens our politics and the kind of thing that collapses if she ever put herself somewhere she might face a gentle follow-up question. What does she think the Gestapo *did*?
The campaign is:

🧵1/ Kemi Badenoch’s characterisation of Bridget Phillipson as having “acted like a Gestapo officer” over private school VAT fees are contemptible, unbecoming of any parliamentarian and demonstrate - yet again - that Badenoch is completely unfit for public office.
My history is a wee bit hazy, but I have a feeling that the activities of the typical Gestapo officer didn't include removing VAT exemptions for private schools.
Today marks ten years since the assassination of Humanists UK member Jo Cox MP by a far right extremist: a dark day in the history of our country, and a wound in our public life that has not healed. Today, we remember Jo, her work, and legacy of compassion.
